Obituary of Mary Ella James

JAMES, M.E. Gladys (née Moore) - Passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughter at Bluewater Health, Sarnia, Ontario, on 16 September 2012, aged 91 years. Gladys was the eldest child of the late Collin J. and M.M. (Tillie) Moore. She was the belovèd wife and best friend of the late Lyle F. James, D.F.C. (2010). Gladys is survived by her children, Marilyn Fleet; Carole James-Airey, and her husband, Winston John Airey; and Collin James, and his wife, Sandra. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Peg Lockridge, and her husband, Jeff; Robert Fleet, and his wife, Tracey;  Jamie Fleet, and his wife, Terry; Jeff Fleet, and his wife, Denise; Cavin Morton; Collin Morton; and Melanie James; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Moore, and his wife, Anita; her sisters, Mae Stewart; Betty Nickerson; Diane Moore; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Kemsley. She was predeceased by her infant son, Lyle F. James, known as Buddy, in 1952; her grandson, Christopher Lyle James, in 1992; and by several brothers and sisters. Gladys was a devoted member of All Saints’ Anglican Church, the I.O.D.E., and Omar Temple No. 111, Daughters of the Nile, of which she was a Past Queen. She is lovingly remembered by friends and neighbours for her many kindnesses. A Memorial Service, conducted by Omar Temple No. 111, Daughters of the Nile, will be held on Tuesday evening at 6:40 p.m. prior to the evening visitation. Visitation will be held at All Saints’ (formerly St. George’s) Anglican Church on Tuesday 18 September from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and on Wednesday 19 September from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at the church and interment taking place at Lakeview Cemetery, Sarnia. Sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations made by cheque to All Saints’ Accessibility Fund, 248 N.. Vidal St., Sarnia, ON  N7T 1G6.  Arrangements have been entrusted to McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home, Sarnia 519-344-3131. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL VISITATIONS AND THE FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT ALL SAINTS’ ANGLICAN CHURCH, AT THE CORNER OF N.
