Obituary of Clifford Allen Leckie
LECKIE, Clifford Allen - At Bluewater Health on Saturday, October 13, 2012, Clifford died suddenly at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Maureen Leckie (Scott) (2009) for 60 years. Loving father of Ross Leckie and father-in-law to Jean (Cleave) Leckie of Georgetown. Cherished grandfather to Laura (Ken) Fraser, Karen (Jarret) Enman and John Leckie; and great-grandfather of Isabelle Fraser. Dear brother of Dorothy Jackson of Camlachie and Edith (Murray) Edgar of Petrolia; and brother-in-law of Dorothy and Josephine Leckie. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Blanche Leckie, brothers Robert and Raymond Leckie; and brother-in-law Howard Jackson. Cliff was born on the 4th Line in Sarnia Township. He was a farmer, later a stone mason, and finally worked as a pipefitter helper at Polysar where he spent most of his working life. After retirement, Cliff volunteered with the work crews at Lambton United Church Center, travelled to be with family, tended his garden, and shared his rough carpenter skills including a couple of Habitat for Humanity builds which he really enjoyed. He was a life long member at Central United Church and participated in that community’s life in various ways. Thank you to the staff at Bluewater Health for their compassionate care. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., on Monday, October 15th from 7-9 p.m. and at CENTRAL UNITED CHURCH, 220 George St. at Brock, on Tuesday, October 16th from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at Central United Church.
