Obituary of Mary Leola Walsh

WALSH, Mary Leola – At North Lambton Lodge, Forest on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, Leola Walsh died at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Alfred Walsh. Loving mother of Brian Walsh & his wife Lois, Etobicoke and Brenda Prine & her husband Gary, Sarnia. Cherished grandmother of Colleen (Tom), Shirley, Monica, Jennifer, James and Andrew. Dear sister of Hartley Briand & wife Julia, Chandler, QC and sister-in-law Theresa Briand, Douglastown, QC. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born to Theodore & Alice Briand, Leola grew up in Douglastown QC, married Alfred and raised her family in Montreal and after retiring and being widowed, moved to Sarnia. Leola faced life with determination, courage and a strong faith. In addition to being a loving mother, she contributed to the family by always working, including studying for and becoming a practical nurse in mid-life. While juggling her jobs, sometimes multiple jobs, cooking, cleaning and being there for the kids, there were times when she had to do even more as her husband Alfred confronted several health issues. She had a special interest in gardening, there were always plants in the house and the yard had an interesting assortment of flowers, shrubs, trees, fruits and vegetables. She took on each challenge as it arrived and dealt with it. Arrangements entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. Cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 11 a.m. April 8, 2013, celebrated by Fr. Raju Allumpurth. Interment will take place in Montreal at a later date.
