Obituary of Edward Fraser
FRASER, Edward George – Suddenly at Bluewater Health on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Ann (Desrosiers) for 63 years. Dear father of Ron (Pattie), Bright's Grove, Shirley Stark, Bright's Grove, Norman (Jean), Stratford and Allen (Lori), Sarnia. Father-in-law of Gordon Rothwell, Nova Scotia. Loving grandfather of Stephen and Michael (Beth) Rothwell, Nova Scotia, Andrew and Heather Stark, Bright's Grove, Kyle (Amber) and Carley Fraser, Sarnia and Daniel Fraser, Stratford. Great-grandfather of Summer. Brother of Mary Van de Kerchkove, Manitoba. Predeceased by daughter Ann Marie Rothwell (2012), son-in-law Alisdair Stark (1998), parents Theodore & Katherine Fraser, brothers Theodore, Gilbert, Leo, Emile and Daniel and by sister Cecile. Ed was a very active member of the 4th Degree Knight's of Columbus since 1955. He volunteered much of his time with activities involving the Knights', doing everything from ordering and stocking the concessions at the Hall for various functions including banquets, bingos and weddings. Later on, Ed catered many of the Knights' events as well as working bingos in the various halls in town. As an active member of the St. Benedict's Parish for over 50 years, Ed loved helping with the Breakfast program and other activities. He also gave his time to the M.S. Society, helping out with their bingos as well. He retired from Polysar in 1983 after 33 years of service as a millwright. A longtime resident of Bluewater Country, Ed was instrumental in forming and organizing the carpet bowling leagues, and enjoyed catering the many activities in the park. Ed enjoyed his friendship with the members of the Le Gaîté (The Golden Age French Club). Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431. N. Christina St., Sarnia on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jim Higgins at St. Benedict's Church on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
