Obituary of Giuliano Giovannelli

GIOVANNELLI, Giuliano - Giuliano passed away peacefully on August 6th at Bluewater Health at the age of 90 in the comfort of his devoted daughter, Mary.   Giuliano is survived by his loving wife Domenica of 55 years, his daughter Mary (Allen) and son, Alex (Laurie), who lives in Calgary, and his brother, Mario, who lives in Lucca, Italy.  He will be sadly missed. Giuliano arrived in Canada in 1954 fresh off the ship with scant belongings in a cardboard suitcase.  He would go on to become a highly skilled and successful carpenter belonging to Union Local 1256.  He settled in Sarnia where he married his wife Domenica the love of his life, raised his family and spent most of his life.   He will be remembered for his hard work, endless smile, creativity, knowledge of current events, quick wit and generosity.  He was a supportive husband and great father who loved his family.  He enjoyed the company of his friends over a glass of vino, and loved spending time in his garden.   His guidance and optimism along with his motto of “Coraggio - Sempre Avanti (Courage - Always Ahead)” will be forever remembered. The family is grateful to our devoted and loving caregivers who became an extension of our family and provided the loving support Dad needed to stay in his own home where he was most happy and active. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Friday, August 9 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church on Saturday, August 10 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment Our Lady of Mercy Mausoleum.
