BONOMINI, Rudy – At his appointed time of 9 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2013, Rudy peacefully left his earthly life behind at age 83 to begin his journey as our angel above. Survived by his dearly loved and dedicated wife of 54 years Giulia and his children Lucy & Jeff Thornton and Lory & Trevor Law. "Grampsie" will be dearly missed by his "furry grandchildren" Tiger, Audrey, Flynn, Max, Zoe, Ellie and Maggie. He is also survived by a sister Rina in Italy and by several nieces and nephews in Thunder Bay and in Italy. Predeceased by 6 siblings. Rudy was born on February 7, 1930 in Mocasina, Italy to Enrico & Lucia Bonomini. He was the youngest of 8 children. Rudy came to Canada for an adventure in 1954, joining his brother Ermando. Giulia joined him in 1959 and they began their journey together as proud Canadians. Rudy enjoyed a career as a hard working and skilled bricklayer and was a proud 50+ year member of B.A.C.U. of Canada Local 23. He loved his daily walks at Canatara Park and the Mall. Dad will always be remembered by his family as a man of few words but loved to share his philosophical musings such as "Nature is nature" and "When it's your time, it's your time." Above all, Rudy was dedicated to his family. Special thanks to the dedicated doctors and nursing staff of Bluewater Health Emergency, I.C.U. and Palliative Care whose dedication allowed us a few more precious days with dad. Cremation has taken place. At Rudy's request there will be no visitation or service. Future interment will take place in Rudy's hometown of Mocasina. Dad greatly admired Terry Fox and proudly participated in every Marathon of Hope to walk for Terry. He also had a great love of all creatures.
