Obituary of Adam Senchuk

SENCHUK, Adam – At Marshall Gowland Manor on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of May (Pelletier). Dear father of Steven Senchuk, Sarnia and Kathryn Senchuk, London. Loving grandfather of Jason, Jill, Julie, Adrienne and Amy. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren. Brother of Nellie (Allan) McDowell, Sarnia, Jack (Irene) Senchuk, Brandon, Manitoba, Nick Senchuk, Brandon, Manitoba, Sylvia (late Jim) Bunn, Peace River, Alberta and Marianne (John) Johnson, Vogar, Manitoba. Predeceased by parents Steve & Mary Senchuk and sister Verna Abram. Adam was born in the Ukraine and emigrated to Canada with his parents in 1928 where they settled in The Pas, Manitoba. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy during W.W.II with active duty in the North Atlantic. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 62. In 1948 he moved to Sarnia and began work at Polymer Rubber Corporation. He worked in a number of capacities in the maintenance area until his retirement in 1983. He was an enthusiastic hockey player and fan of the Detroit Red Wings. He also enjoyed curling, golf and watching baseball and other sports on TV. During his retirement he and May traveled to Europe, the Ukraine and throughout Canada and the U.S. When May became ill, Adam was a dedicated care-giver for 11 years. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Wednesday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. and will be officiated by Fr. Jim Higgins. Cremation will follow. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation, 714 London Rd., Sarnia, N7T 4Y1 or Marshall Gowland Manor, 749 Devine St., Sarnia, N7T 1X3.
