Obituary of Glenford Allen Murray

"THE COACH" MURRAY, GLENFORD A. (GLEN) died Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Bluewater Health - Palliative Care. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Carol J. Murray, sons Dana, Sarnia, Greg, London and daughter Corrinne, Toronto, grandchildren Ben, Zach and Josh of Sarnia, and Angus, Olivia and Abigail of London. Will be missed by sister Beverly (Jack) McCabe, St. Catharines and their children and brother Robert (Lynn) Murray and their children, Niagara Falls. Also survived by sisters-in-law Marilyn (Jack) Finkelstein, Winnipeg and her children, and Jeri Branton, Vancouver and her child. Predeceased by his father Robert Murray (1985) and father-in-law Gerry Pike (1963). Predeceased by the two best cooks in the world, his mother Irene Murray (1992) and mother-in-law Ruth Pike (1976). Glen loved good food. He was born in Ottawa and moved to Sarnia to play football for the Sarnia Imperials. He also coached football with Bill Pataky and Al Braekevelt. He worked for Suncor and Catalytic for 38 years. The Detroit Lions, Red Wings and Tigers have lost a very loyal fan. Also GLen enjoyed being a father figure to Larry and Glen Lecour. He leaves behind to mourn him his barking girls Maggie and Jenny. He was a member of Grace United Church, the Y.M.C.A. and recently received his 50 year pin from the Masons. Cremation has taken place. At Glen's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Friends and family are invited to an interment service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2007, at Resurrection Cemetery, 1885 London Line, Sarnia. A social gathering to remember "THE COACH" will follow the service.
