Obituary of Norman Mortimer

MORTIMER, Norman Scotty - Peacefully with his family by his side at Bluewater Health, Palliative Care, Norman died after a short illness at the age of 89. Loving husband of Marion (nee MacDonald) for 63 years. Wonderful father to four daughters, Holly (Don) Howard of Brantford, Sherry Pavey of Hamilton, Jenny Bodnar of Whitby, Shana (Rick) Mortimer-Gibson of Pickering. Proud grandfather of Kim (Gord) Cowan, Rodney Howard, Greg (Nadine Costello) Pavey, Jessica Bodnar, Cameron and Ben Mortimer-Gibson; and great-grandfather of Tori Howard and Caleb Bodnar. Dear brother of John Mortimer of Winnipeg. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William and Elizabeth and his sisters Mary and Patricia. Norm served with the R.C.N. from 1942-1945 as a Petty Officer and graduated from Queens University in 1947 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Norm retired in 1983 after spending his career of 36 years as a dedicated employee with Imperial Oil. A special thank you to the wonderful nursing staff at 4 North A, Mitton Site for their excellent care and compassion. Norman's generosity extended to include the donation of his corneas to help others. Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be held at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Len Desjardins on Friday, August 24th at 12 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Cremation to follow with a private interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
