Obituary of Sofia a.k.a. Zofia Proszek

PROSZEK, Sofia - Quietly at her home on Saturday, August 18, 2007, Sofia died at the age of 73. Beloved wife of the late Stan for 52 years. Loving mother of Joanne Byers and her partner Claude Manneville of Pickering, Stan and his wife Simi Shulman of Oakville, Wanda and her husband Jeff Feigenbaum of Toronto, and the late Gienny Proszek (2002) and her husband Brian Ewener. Sister of Janina and her husband Bruno Kloczko. Proud grandmother of Krystina, Andrew, Victoria, Alex, Jacob, Avery, Aaron, and Nathan. Predeceased by her parents Andzej and Maria; brothers John Ciura, and sisters Paulina Puzak, Anna Melody, and Bernice Ciura. Sofia was a member of the S.P.K. Polish Veterans of Canada, a longtime member of the CWL with Our Lady Queen of Peace Church and the Polish Society of Canada #14. Sofia was also a scout leader in Africa for several years. Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. where prayers will be offered at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of Peace Church (Rosedale at Ellwood) on Friday, August 24th at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
