Obituary of James Bellamy Kern

"Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced." Opus. KERN, James Bellamy - Born October 5, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. Died August 11, 2007 in Sarnia, Ontario. Predeceased by Wilma, his wife for over 51 years in 2006, Jim is survived by 5 children and 11 grandchildren. They are Marshall and Pat Kern, Sarnia, Gabrielle and Justine. Bill and Michelle Kern, Waterloo, Ben and Ainsley. Kathryn and Stephen Farr, Toronto, Margaret and John. Barbara Jean and Doug Enders, Winnipeg, Allison and Elizabeth. Mary and Jim Matthewman, Oakbank, MB, Jimmy, Tracy and Ashley. Jim attended primary and high schools in Dallas, TX, Winnipeg and Moose Jaw, the family home. He received an athletic scholarship, hockey, from the University of Denver and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1953. After graduation he entered into the family business in Moose Jaw until it closed in 1962. He then joined Dow Chemical Canada, Inc. serving in sales, marketing and business assignments. He retired from Dow in 1990. He was active in many interests, sports, military and business associations. Coming to Sarnia in 1979 he became a member of the Sarnia Golf & Curling Club, curling, and the Sarnia Yacht Club, sailing, racing and race committee work. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club, Golden K, being a past President and Kiwanian of the Year. Jim and Wilma were members for many years of Grace United Church. He was a strong supporter of her participation in the many aspects of the church and it's involvement in family and community life in Sarnia. Cremation has taken place, a celebration of Jim's life will be held at Grace United Church, 990 Cathcart Blvd., Sarnia on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Rosedale Cemetery in Moose Jaw at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 344-3131. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wilma E.
