D'ANDREA, ERNESTO - At Bluewater Health, Norman Site on May 5, 2007, surrounded by his loving family, he was called home by his Saviour at the age of 78. He was a beloved friend, companion and husband for 54 years to his loving and supportive wife Maria. Dear father and role-model to Theresa (Alvaro) Baldassarre, and Tony (Rita) D'Andrea. Much loved "Nonno" of Mara (Steve) Derikx, Laura and Damiano Baldassarre, Dino, Daniella and Derek D'Andrea and special great-grandpa to Alyssa and Ryan Derikx. Dear brother of Ida Rocca and Michele (Antonietta) D'Andrea and brother-in-law of Anna D'Andrea and Kathy D'Andrea. He will be sadly missed by many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Maria Teresa, brothers Orazio and Alberto and sister Restituta. Ernesto was born in Casalvieri, Italy in 1929 and emigrated to Canada in 1952. He worked many years in the construction field as a cement mason. Ernesto enjoyed spending time playing bocce and cards with his family and friends. He was a member of the Dante Club of Sarnia and a parishoner of St. Peter's Church. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Bluewater Health Cardiac Care, Palliative Care and Continuing Care 3rd Floor for all their support and understanding. A special thanks goes to the staff of Bayshore Home Health, especially to Steve McDougall for all his loving care. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Terence Runstedler at St. Peter's Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Mausoleum (London Line).
