KENNEDY, ROBERTA "BETTY"� A.E., On Tuesday, March 27, 2007, died peacefully following a brief illness at Bluewater Health at the age of 79. Dear wife of the late Hugh Hall Kennedy (1975). Cherished sister of Maude Harbinson, N. Ireland. She leaves her beloved children Shaun (Deborah) of Thamesville and Colleen Gruben (James) of Clay Twp., Michigan and cherished grandchildren Colin and Courtney Kennedy. Betty was born in Rathfriland, N. Ireland and she and Hall moved to Sarnia in 1957. Through hard work, determination and a love of their new country, they established a life of which they were very proud. A dedicated educator, Betty taught with the Lambton County Board of Education for 35 years. Throughout her career, Betty positively touched the lives of many students and colleagues. She was blessed with the joy of having two homes, and dearly valued her friendships in both the city and on Stag Island. She will be remembered by her many friends for her Irish wit, generous and compassionate spirit, and her ability to quietly reach out to those in need. Betty was an avid reader and loved the intellectual challenge of crosswords. She was a long-standing member of the Sarnia CFUW and took pride in championing the needs of local students through her work on the Bursary Committee. Cremation has taken place, and at Betty's request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2007 at Grace United Church (corner Indian & Cathcart). A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Betty's family kindly requests that expressions of sympathy be directed in her memory to the Sarnia CFUW Bursary Fund, 850 Errol Road E., Sarnia, ON, N7V 2G9.
