LACHAPELLE, John Robert - Surrounded by his family at St. Joseph's Hospice on Monday, September 6, 2016 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Marie for 56 years. Dear father of Claude (Deanna) Lachapelle, Sarnia and the late Claudette Lachapelle. Loving grandfather of Chantal, Danielle and Robbie. Brother of Guy (Bev) Lachapelle, Sarnia and brother-in-law of Simone and Reina Lachapelle, Sarnia. Predeceased by parents John & Adele Lachapelle, brothers, Ernest, Fernand, Wilfred, Rene and Albert Lachapelle and sisters Marguerite Meilleur, Claire Pepin and Annette Pilon. John was born in Timmins moving to Sarnia in the 1950's and becoming a resident of Bluewater. He served 9 years with Royal 22nd Regiment as a paratrooper in Val Cartier, Quebec. John was a member of Local 663 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union. John was a handyman and was always ready to help his family and friends when needed. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 556 N. Christina St., Sarnia, N7T 5W6 or St. Joseph's Hospice, 475 N.
