Obituary of Stephen William Doughty

DOUGHTY, Stephen, William - Surrounded by his family at Bluewater Health, Stephen Doughty died on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Athene. Loving father of Jason & his wife Angie, Michigan and Frances & her partner Mark Wiemels, Australia. Cherished grandfather of Dakota & Michalah Doughty and Olivia, Amelia and Lucas Wiemels. Dear brother of George (Jan), Brampton and Paul Sr. (BettyAnne), Guelph. Brother-in-law of Heather Sinclair, Hamilton. Also survived by his nieces Nicola & Samantha & nephew Paul Jr. Predeceased by his parents William & Frances. Stephen spent his early years travelling the world in the English Merchant Navy. This experience cemented his love for the water and ships and it remained a constant in his life; whether it was living in Grand Haven, MI or Sarnia, ON he always enjoyed his time by the water watching the ships go past. He also enjoyed watching the native birds and animals in the backyard, but most of all he loved spending time with and being surrounded by his five grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Stephen's life will be held at the family home on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Family and friends are welcome from 2-4pm. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a donation to the Lung Association-Lambton, 656 Lakeshore Rd, Sarnia, N7V 2T2.
