CURRIE, Maureen Elizabeth – Peacefully with her family by her side at Bluewater Health, on Sunday, June 29, 2014, Maureen passed away at the age of 74. Wife of the late Gordon Currie. Loving mother of Lawrence (Matty) Currie, the late Catherine Henderson and Cheryl Currie. Caring grandmother of Melanie (Ryan) Newman, Bryan Currie, Nicolette, Brittany and Alexander Henderson and Krista Currie. Glorious great-grandmother of Dresden, Keiran, Ava Catherine and one little miracle on the way. Special friend of Ed Sebastian. Daughter of the late Joe & Jeannette Thompson. Predeceased by brothers Kenneth and Richard Thompson. Maureen's career began as a candy striper at Sarnia General Hospital. She then became a Registered Nurse and worked at both Sarnia General and St. Joseph's Hospitals. Maureen became a shift supervisor on 4 North working with geriatrics and medically fragile babies. Her private duty practices included working in the U.S. in nursing homes and in Sarnia with Comcare and V.O.N. In her spare time, Maureen enjoyed fishing, gardening and travelling. Cremation has taken place. Visitation arrangements are pending and are entrusted to the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 519-344-3131.
