Obituary of Richard Westaway Ford

FORD, RICHARD "DICK" - Surrounded by his family at West Parry Sound Health Centre, Parry Sound, on Sunday, August 10, 2014, Dick Ford died suddenly but peacefully at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Isabelle (Aitken). Loving father of Don & his wife Jean (Lewis), Brampton, ON and Sharon Ford & her husband Jay Parsons, Chelsea, QC. Cherished grandfather of Brian, Eric, Allison, Christopher and Michael. Predeceased by his elder son Douglas, parents Charles & Rose Ford and brothers Charles "Alan" Ford and Robert Ford. A long-time employee of Dow Chemical, Dick also served as city alderman, police commissioner and church elder as well as being active with many other committees and groups. He always had time for his family as well. An outdoor enthusiast, photographer and lover of Canada's North, he spent many happy times at the family cottage on Three-Legged Lake near Parry Sound canoing, fishing, swimming and reading. Friends will be received 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m., Friday, August 15th, 2014 at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home, 431 Christina St., N., Sarnia. A Celebration of life will be held at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 770 Lakeshore Road, Sarnia, 1 p.m. Saturday, August 16th, 2014, officiated by the Rev. Julia Ford and the Rev. Terry Samuel.
