Obituary of Vittorio Spina

SPINA, Vittorio – At Bluewater Health on Monday, January 21, 2013, Vittorio passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Italia for 61 years. Dear father of Connie (Sergio) Vidotto, Port Elgin and Tony (Cathy) Spina, London.   Loving Grampa of Christine Vidotto, Robert Vidotto, Carla (John) Campbell, Julia Vidotto, Philip Spina and Miriam Spina. Bisnonno of Anna Belle Campbell. Brother of Maria (Donato) Marinaro, Sarnia and Venera (Nino) Cocco. Also surviving are several nieces & nephews. Predeceased by his parents Filippo & Concetta Spina. Vic came to Sarnia in 1952 from Italy. He was part of the first wave of Italian Immigrants to come to this area. He retired from Ontario Hydro, Lambton Generating Station after more than 3 decades of service as a labourer with Local 1089. Vic was one of the Charter Members of the Dante Club. In his retirement, Vic loved spending time gardening, tending to his fruit trees and hunting. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431. N. Christina St., Sarnia on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.  Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.  Entombment Our Lady of Mercy Mausoleum.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to Bluewater Health Foundation Volunteer Program, 89 Norman St., Sarnia, ON  N7T 6S3 or charity of choice.   Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com A tree will be planted in memory of Vittorio Spina in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest.
