Obituary of Laurianna Bastarache

BASTARACHE, Laurianna (Louise) – At Trillium Villa on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the age of 95. Louise was born on July 29, 1917 in Trois-Riveres, Quebec. She moved to Earlton, Ontario in 1920 and survived the 1922 fire. She also lived in Englehart. Louise became a housekeeper for Fr. Francis Sowinski and was the organist at the Catholic Church in Schumacher for many years. When she retired, she moved to Sarnia. She is survived by her sisters Germaine (Gerry) Fournier and Jeanne D’Arc (Joan) Roncato. She is also survived by her nieces & nephews Catherine (Bert) Wilhelm, Gerald Hamilton, Mike Hamilton, Paulette (Dallas) Rostad, Dennis (Debra) Fournier, Joanne (Gus) Dekkers, Christine (Rick) Spencer, Anita (Andrew) Chambers, Lorraine (Joseph) Vella as well as many great nieces and nephews. “Special aunt” of the Sowinski families. She is predeceased by her parents Sarah (Lefebvre) & Mathias Bastarache, her sister Marie-Jeanne Hamilton and her 3 brothers-in-law Alcide Fournier, Joseph Hamilton and Peter Roncato. Laurianna will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431. N. Christina St., Sarnia on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Raju Allumpurath at St. Joseph’s Church on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 10 a.m.  Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation, 774 London Rd., Sarnia, N7T 4Y1.  Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com A tree will be planted in memory of Laurinna Bastarache in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest.
