Obituary of The Hon. A. Louis Eddy

EDDY, The Honourable Mr. Justice A. Louis Eddy - of Sarnia, Ontario, passed away at Bluewater Health Centre with his family at his side on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Selma Leonida of 61 years. Loving father of Mary Ann Dunlop and her husband Gary , Robert Eddy and his wife Rebecca. Loving grandfather of Mallory,Cassandra, and Tayla Eddy. Survived by his brothers, the Reverend Keith Eddy (Edwina) and Brian Eddy (Elaine). Predeceased by his brother Allan and his sister-in-law Marie, Louis was the son of the Reverend William T. Eddy and Mary Freeman Eddy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Louis was a graduate of McGill University (BA) and Osgoode Hall (LLB). He had a long successful law practice in Sarnia centered on municipal law, serving as solicitor to Lambton County, the Village of Point Edward and Moore Township and was appointed Queen's Council. Louis was appointed in 1982 to the bench of the Ontario Court of Justice (Criminal Division). After retiring, he continued as a Per Diem Judge travelling to all parts of Ontario. He was also very active in the community, serving as President of the Chamber of Commerce, the Sarnia Rotary Club and the Lambton Law Association. He sat on the Boards of St. Joseph Hospital and Lambton College. Louis enjoyed sharing his recreational activities with his family, favourites included skiing in the winter and boating through the many waterways of Ontario and the Caribbean. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and Friends are invited to join in a Celebration of Life event to be held at the SARNIA RIDING CLUB on Friday, April 25th, 2014, from 1p.m. to 5 p.m. (online condolences and details of the Celebration may found at www.mckenzieblundy.com). As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted in memory of The Hon. A. Louis Eddy in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest. Dedication service Sunday, September 21st, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area

Celebration of Life on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 1-5 p.m. at The Sarnia Riding Club, 980 Riding Club Lane, Sarnia Greeting Line, Eulogies and Tributes Food and Refreshments
