Tonino Galizia

Obituary of Tonino Galizia

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tonino "Tony" Galizia on July 27, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Rovito, Italy, Tony brought the warmth and traditions of his homeland to Canada, where he built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.

Tony is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Silvana Galizia, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. He was the beloved father of Joe Galizia (Debbie McIntyre), Maria Galizia (Geoff Ollson), and Paul Galizia (Lisa). Tony took immense pride in his role as "Nonno" to his ten adoring grandchildren: Alex, Brooke, Ariana, Matthew, Amber, Abby, Tyler, Sierra, Sophia, and Liliana. He was a loving brother to his sister Rosa Brydges (Eugene) and nephew Rick Brydges. Tony is also survived by his mother-in-law, Gina Gervasi, a very large family still residing in Italy and many cousins here in Canada and the US.

Tony's passion for his Italian heritage was evident in every aspect of his life. He kept traditions alive through annual family gatherings, including the September tomato sauce weekend and the January sausage, salami, and Italian cured meats weekend. His weekly homemade pasta and pizza dough delighted his family and friends, bringing a taste of Italy to their Canadian home.

An avid outdoorsman, Tony found joy in fishing along the shores of Lake Huron and the St. Clair River, passing his love of the sport to his sons and grandchildren. In his earlier years, he dedicated time to training and racing prize pigeons. Tony was also a talented artist, creating beautiful drawings for his beloved grandchildren that will be treasured for generations to come.

Tony's green thumb was evident in his meticulously tended garden, where he spent countless hours cultivating flowers, fruits and vegetables. He loved to travel back to his home country of Italy, sharing its beauty and culture with his family. Above all, Tony treasured every moment spent with his beloved wife Silvana, their love story spanning over five decades.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Bayshore Home Health Sarnia, especially Richard and Patty, for their compassionate care and support during Tony's final months.

Tony's warm smile, kind heart, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the love he shared, the traditions he maintained, and the memories he created with his family and friends.
