Obituary of Amado Ladines Dizon

Peacefully, on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Bluewater Health Palliative Care, Amado Ladines Dizon passed away at the age of 84.  Loving father of Theresa Dizon (Andrew Shaw) and Amanda Carpino (Neil).  Proud Lolo of Aliyah, Matteo, Easton (2022) and Baby Carpino. Beloved husband of Marietta.  Predeceased by his parents Blas and Longina, his siblings (and their spouses) Jose (Rose), Ruperto, Quiterio, Rosario Morales (Pamplio), Paciencia Oblea (Estelito), Miguelito (Flor) and his first love, Virginia (2000).  Amado is also survived by his brother Cipriano (Nieva) and sister-in-law Jovita.

Amado came to Canada from the Philippines in 1972 where he met Virginia (née Pangan) whom he married in 1974. He was a dedicated custodian at St. Joseph's Hospital for over 30 years and loved to joke around with his amigos. Amado was an avid gardener who always generously shared the fruits (and vegetables) of his labour with family and friends. He also loved bowling, playing mahjong, and going to the casino (aka "the office"). He loved to endlessly joke around with his two girls and was so proud of them when they became a teacher and a nurse, respectively.  In 2013, he remarried and was the devoted husband to Marietta.  Amado will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews, as well as the many extended family members of the Sarnia-Lambton and Michigan Filipino communities.

The family is sincerely grateful to the staff at Trillium Villa and Vision nursing homes, Lambton EMS, and Bluewater Health ER, ICU, and Palliative Care departments (Dr. Naidu, Dr. Al-Zubaidi, Dr. MacSweeney, and all of Dad’s amazing nurses) for their constant care for and dedication to Amado.

Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 6 – 8 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church on Friday, June 20th  at 10 a.m.  Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.  Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Alzheimer Society of Sarnia-Lambton, 420 East St. N., Sarnia N7T 6Y5 https://alzheimer.ca/sarnialambton/en.  Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com (http://www.mckenzieblundy.com/)
