COSSA, Rosa – Our beloved mother, Rosa Cossa (nee Marceddu), passed away on May 18, 2025 at the age of 85 surrounded by the love of her family. Rosa was the cherished wife of the late Pietrino (Pietro) and devoted mother of Maria (Pasquale), Gianni (Sandie), Rita (Stephen), and Tony (Cheryl). Rosa was most happy when spending time with her nine grandchildren – Marcus, Nicholas, Isabelle, Juliette, Sebastian, Lauren, Mattia, Ryan, and Leila. She had a gift of making each one feel adored and special.
Born and raised in Illorai, Sardegna (Italia), Rosa was the dear sister of Giovanni Antonio (Marguerita), Teresa (Peppe), Titina (Pasqualino), and Filippo (Caterina). She is predeceased by her parents, Giovanni and Mattia. Rosa carried her Sardinian roots with pride throughout her life, often sharing stories of her childhood and homeland.
Rosa revealed her adventurous spirit when as a newlywed, she and Pietro immigrated to Canada by way of Montreal before making Sarnia their home. Rosa dedicated herself to raising her children in a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals. Her deep Catholic faith and connection to her Italian heritage were the cornerstones of her life and the legacy she passed on to her family. With her grandchildren, Rosa delighted in every moment — encouraging them to speak Italian, saying their prayers, and preparing their favourite meals. She believed deeply in the importance of family and harmony.
Rosa was a proud member of the Circolo Sardo di Sarnia, the Dante Club, and St. Peter’s Church Catholic Women’s League. Her generosity, kindness, and unwavering faith touched many lives.
Our family is grateful for the support of family and friends. We are also thankful for the outstanding care provided by the staff at Trillium Villa as they embraced Rosa and supported her with grace.
Though Rosa has parted, her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on through all who were lucky to know her. We will miss her deeply, remember her fondly, and honour her always.
