Obituary of Harley Scimmi

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Grief Therapy Dog, Harley, in the early morning hours of April 5, 2025, at the age of 8½.

Harley was a cherished member of the McKenzie & Blundy team, joining us when he was just 8 months old. From the start, he brought comfort and companionship to grieving families—always ready with a warm presence and a gentle nudge. In his younger years, Harley’s playful energy often surfaced, especially when children were around. As he matured, he became a calming presence, instinctively making his way into visitation rooms, quietly offering solace to everyone he encountered.

People often asked for him by name. Despite facing health challenges in recent years, Harley never lost his zest for life or his ability to uplift those around him.

More than a colleague, Harley was a deeply loved member of the Scimmi family—McKenzie & Blundy owners Greg and Katherine’s loyal companion and best friend. He will also be greatly missed by Sam, Andrew, and his best buddy Carter. He loved to follow Carter everywhere he went.  Bouvier's are water dogs, and Harley loved nothing more than walks down at the lake.  

In honour of Harley’s generous spirit, memorial donations may be made to the Sarnia Humane Society. All of Harley’s possessions have been donated there—just as he would have wanted.

He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
