Obituary of Barbara Anne Oldridge

With her beloved daughter by her side, Barbara Anne Oldridge went peacefully to be with her heavenly father, at Bluewater Health Hospital in Sarnia, Ontario on March 10, 2025. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late John “Jack” Henry Oldridge (1969). Loving mother to Joan Baril (John) and Wayne Oldridge (Susan). Cherished Grandma “Nana” to Tyler Baril (Shawni), Carly Crul (Brandon), John Oldridge, Jessica Evans (Ryan), Philip Truelieb (Melanie), Sandra Pelkie (Mike). Great-Grandmother to Abby Rae, Lucas, Sadie, Jorja, Noah, Elizabeth, Chapman, Owen and Claire. Predeceased by her dear friend Marie Sitter, Son-in-law Larry Baril; parents Jessie and William Moore, who Emigrated to Canada from England in the early 1900’s. She will be sadly missed by her friend Margaret, her cat Sydney and new friend Sophie.
Barbara was born on March 9, 1935 in Hamilton, Ontario. She enjoyed her 90th Birthday, before her passing, with her family, friends and the kind staff at Sumac Lodge in Sarnia. Barbara worked as a bookkeeper for many years, retiring in the 1980’s. She spent over 4 decades as a leader with the Girl Guides of Canada. Barbara was an active member of St. John’s Anglican Church for over 5 decades; taking part in the Choir, Chancel Guild and A.C.W.
Barbara enjoyed knitting, watching her Royal Family or John Wayne tapes and spending time with her many beloved cats. She loved visits from all her grandkids and great-grandkids, and enjoyed the many days and sleepovers spent with Tyler and Carly.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Sumac Lodge, Bluewater Health ER and Palliative teams and the many friends for their compassion and care of Barbara. Friends will be received at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home, 431 Christina St. N. on Friday March 14, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church (corner Vidal & Charlotte) on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11a.m. with visiting from 10-10:45.  Private family interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
