Mom was born & raised in Newfoundland, left home to make her way at an early age & joined the Air Force during WWII which is where she was offered a nurses training program in Sarnia. While in training in the late 1940’s, she & a colleague bicycled from Sarnia to Niagara Falls in 3 days with stopovers in London & Hamilton. Mom met Dad while he was a patient in the Sarnia General Hospital & they married on September 10, 1949. They travelled extensively over their years together including a trip to Italy while she was earning her MSW in her 60’s. Many will remember Mom when she worked with the Lung Association & the Ministry of Community & Social Services providing kindness & empathy to many.

Donations to your favourite charity in Mom’s name will be gratefully received. Suggestions from us are: Alzheimer's Society, Canadian Cancer Society & any animal shelter (suggested by mom’s faithful canine visitor Boomer Steven).

Mom has been laid to rest beside Dad at Blackwell Cemetery. A memorial service will be held this summer in Sarnia. Please notify family or the funeral home if you would like to be included for that celebration of Mom’s long life well lived.

Special thanks to the staff of Lookout Ridge of Fonthill for their love & care for Mom during these past few years.

Arrangements entrusted to The McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia.  Messages of condolence & memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
