POIRIER, SHEILA WINIFRED (nee Leggo) - With profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Sheila Winifred Poirier (nee Leggo) who died on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the age of 80. Wife of the late James Omer Poirier (2014). Loving mother of Diane (Les) Goldhawk, Wyoming, Elaine Poirier (Jim Welshinski), Sarnia, Sherry (Dale) Myers, Corunna, Tony Poirier, Sarnia and Mike (Pam) Poirier, Sarnia. Loving grandmother of Jason (Nicole) Goldhawk, Christine (Mark) Field, Derek and Sean Welshinski, Amber (Jason) Correll, Michelle (Jeremy) Poirier, Alicia (Dave) Poirier, Michael (Jenna) and Kyle (Kyla) Myers. Step-grandmother of Jordan and Ashley McBeath, Jasmine (Donny) Morreau, Leonard Paquette and Steve (Trish) Paquette, Hope, Breanne and Daisy Doxtator. Great-grandmother of 15. Dear sister of Anna (Donn) Barter and sister-in-law Lee Leggo. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Lionel & Rena Leggo and sisters Jennie Coull and Blanche Chisholm and brother Cletus and daughter-in-law Diane Beehler-Poirier. A mother's love is like no other, her children knew her to be the best mother and friend, but extended family and friends knew her to be an outstanding and giving person. She was caring and beautiful inside and out. She will be entering the next chapter in this incredible journey called Life. We know that she will walk amongst us in our hearts. She was an incredible inspiration, a pillar of hope, strength and love to her children who are left behind, left with a sense of humility and optimism which has helped to shape who they are today. Sheila held down many jobs and volunteered for the White Cane Society. Sheila retired from the Bayer Corporation in 1992. Sheila battled MDS for years. A visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held for Sheila in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel on Wednesday, November 29th at 11 a.m. officiated by Deacon Lyle Lalonde. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 556 N.
