Shirley Rae Stefanka

STEFANKA, Shirley Rae – Peacefully with her family by her side, Shirley Stefanka died at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at the age of 85.  Loving mother of Barbara Swift & her husband Shawn and Randy Stefanka and his wife Christine Russell.  Cherished grandmother of Mike (Jenny), Julie (Jon), Cher (Josh), Ryan (Lani) and Meagan (Marcus).  Great-grandmother of Kayla, Alex, Gabby, Zach, Titus, Gideon, Anna, Luke, Mary, Daniel, Jack, Maddy, Hannah, Holly, Harper, Brianne, Kyra, Travis and Kyle.  Dear sister of Betty Peron (Ernie), Edna Lebreton, Peggy Arsenault (John), Helen Chedore (Roy), Colin Chedore (Valerie), Karen Massey (Derek), Gerald Chedore and Roger Chedore (Maryanne). Sister-in-law of Gloria Chedore.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her son John Stefanka, parents Stanley & Maria Chedore, her brother Winston Chedore  and her husband Rudy Stefanka.

 

Shirley came to Sarnia many years ago to be a caregiver for her future in-laws’ children where she met and married her husband Rudy. She recently moved to Chatham with her daughter’s family.  Shirley was very strong in faith and a godly example for all her family.  She was a very generous person, always giving first to her family and then to many different charities and strangers in need.  Shirley enjoyed a good crossword or word search.  She loved to read, especially her Bible.  Shirley worked for many years at the City of Mississauga as a clerk in the Transportation Works Department.

 

Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 432 Christina St., N., Sarnia on Thursday, April 21st from 12 pm to 2.00 p.m.  Service will follow in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 55 St. Clair Avenue W., Suite 500, Toronto, ON, M4V 2Y7.  Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
