George Steve "Hap" Gottfried

GOTTFRIED, GEORGE “Hap” – Peacefully, Hap Gottfried died at Bluewater Health on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at the age of 92 years.  Beloved husband of Josephine “Jodie” for 69 years.  Loving father of George Jr., Steven, Anne McGuire (Paul), Paul.  Cherished grandfather of Shaemara Gottfried, Rebecca Goldstein (Ben), Kateri Tough (Peter), and Monica Orlando (Phillip).  Proud great grandfather of Talin, Liliana & Zoey.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Hap will be lovingly remembered by all those who lives he touched. Predeceased by his parents Annie & George and his brother John and sister Margaret. 

                                                  

Hap and Jodie have been inseparable since his retirement over 30 years ago from Corby’s as a liquor sales representative.  He also had a career as a baker and insurance salesman. With Jodie by his side, he was active in many aspects of Sacred Heart Church for many years.  He volunteered on the social committee, as an usher, the RCIA and the Knights of Columbus.  Hap also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.  He was a devoted family man and a lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs and Hamilton Tiger Cats fan.   

 

Visitation will be held at the at McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Bayshore, Care Partners, Nurses, Doctors and PSW’s as well as the Fourth Floor and Palliative Care Nurses.  Special thanks also to the paramedics and EMS volunteers of the STR who transported Jodie to the hospital for a visit with Hap.  Also, many thanks to the staff of McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Sacred Heart Parish for their compassionate guidance during this difficult time.
