CHAFE, Ronald - With his family by his side Ron passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health Palliative Care on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the age of 82. Loving partner of Jeannine Stevens. Dear father of Michael (Anna), Mississauga, Lisa Chafe, Sarnia, Robert (Dawn), Sarnia and Catherine (Barry) Gorman, Ottawa. Loving grampa of Taylor and Connor (Erin) Burgess, Emily and Hannah Chafe, Kyle and Amanda Chafe and Ryan and Scott Gorman. Great-grampa of Austin Burgess. Also survived by his children's mother, Yvonne Chafe and his extended family David (Val) Stevens, Paul (Luisa) Stevens, Charles (Kathy) Stevens and the late Amy Stevens. Ron will also be fondly remembered by sister-in-law Blanche Chafe. Predeceased by brother Charles and sisters Joann and Catherine. Ron was born in Buchans, Nfld. and served in The Royal Canadian Navy for 20 years. Upon his discharge from the Navy he came to Sarnia and worked for the Canadian Coast Guard until retirement. He was a life member of The Royal Canadian Legion Br. 62 and The Point Edward Ex-Serviceman's Club. He was Poppy Chairman for Br. 62 for over 30 years and was known as "Mr. Poppy". Ron was an avid Detroit Red Wings and Tigers fan. He loved to spend his spare time golfing and curling. Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 11-1 p.m. Royal Canadian Legion Br. 62 will conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Following visitation, a celebration of Ron's life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 286 N. Front St., Sarnia from 2-4 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may make donations to Royal Canadian Legion Br. 62 Poppy Fund, 286 N.
