Additional Obit Info

On Feb 18th, 2017, after a brief struggle with illness, Joyce Doris Cameron passed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in the wonderful care of the St. Joseph Hospice, Sarnia. Joyce was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Weymouth England, the seventh of eight children to George and Rose Casswell, both of whom predeceased her; Kenneth Casswell, a brother, of Surrey BC survives her, as do many nieces and nephews. William (Bill) P. Murphy who died in Feb. 1974 married Joyce in May of 1942 in Halifax NS and to their union were born four children: a daughter BEVERLY who died in 1952, a son WILLIAM (Bill) C. MURPHY (Rose Marie) of Kerwood, ON, a son BRIAN K MURPHY (Louise) of Fredericksburg TX and a daughter BARBARA J. ELLSWORTH (James) of Victoria BC; 7 grandchildren: Bill and Sean Murphy of Sarnia ON, Jennifer Wilson (Michael) of Golden BC, Michael Murphy (Stacie) of Austin TX, Elizabeth McDonald (James) of Fredericksburg TX, Robert A Murphy (Amber) of Temecula CA and Mary Margaret Murphy of Fredericksburg TX ; and 12 great-grandchildren: Bill and Jessica Murphy of Georgetown ON, Tyler and Brittany of Sarnia ON, Katherine, Natalie and David McDonald of Fredericksburg TX, Ellie, Claire and Samantha Murphy of Austin TX, Elliott Murphy of Temecula CA, and Eric Wilson of Golden BC. Al Cameron who died in 1998 married Joyce in Feb. 1977, through whom Joyce is survived by stepchildren Martha Cameron and James Cameron of Toronto ON. Joyce was a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church for 60+ years, and was blessed by the many beautiful friends in the Church; she loved to ski with the Sarnia Ski Club and played golf until the last, fully capable of drubbing her children if they might be brave enough to get on the links with her; Most importantly, Joyce lived in the strength of her faith and died fully confident in her Saviour’s blessing (Job 9:25-27); we believe Joyce would want to especially thank her dear friend Yvette Caron for the years of friendship and many mercies shown to her. A luncheon and time of fellowship will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 1, 2017 at St. Giles Presbyterian Church (Sarnia ON) with a formal celebration being held at a later date. Interment of ashes in the Lakeview Cemetery (Sarnia ON). As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a donation to St. Joseph’s Hospice, 475 N. Christina St. N., Sarnia, N7T 5W3 where she spent her final days so lovingly cared for. Sincere and heartfelt thanks go to the wonderful staff, who made that time so dignified and peaceful. Arrangements entrusted to The McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia. Messages of condolence & memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
