Additional Obit Info

Giovannelli, Domenica (May 4, 1926 - Oct 30, 2016) It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Domenica, who died peacefully in the comfort of her home. She is survived by her loving children, Mary (Allen) and Alex (Laurie) and predeceased by her husband Giuliano, brother Amerigo and sisters, Artemia, and Nella. She will be sadly missed. Domenica was born in Italy from humble beginnings. Her parents died young and she was raised by her brother and sisters. After meeting Giuliano in Lucca one fateful day, a relationship developed and she courageously travelled by ship to Canada in 1958 to marry the love of her life. Together they raised a family and created a life for themselves. Domenica will be remembered for her hard work, strong will, courage, great cooking and generosity. She always made a spot at the kitchen table for anyone who visited, no matter who it was or time of day. Her foundation of faith, family, and unconditional love is her legacy. The family is forever grateful to her devoted and loving caregivers who became an extension of our family and provided the loving support Mom needed to stay in the home she loved where she was most happy and active. Domenica was a member of the Catholic Women's League and the Dante Club. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Steve Savel at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church on Friday, November 4th at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Mausoleum.
