Obituary of Robert Jude Gleason

GLEASON, Robert "Bob" - Peacefully at home, with his family by his side, Bob Gleason died on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the age of 76. Lifelong love and best friend of wife Patricia. Loving father of Tim Gleason & his wife Julia, Shawna Campbell & her husband Peter and Keri Houle & her husband Jason. Cherished grandfather of Quincey, Abbey & Beatrice Gleason, Olivia Campbell and Rachael & Meagan Houle. Dear brother of Harvey Gleason & his wife Mary Lou, Marie Demkowicz & her husband Bryan, and Timothy Gleason & his wife Dorothy. Brother-in-law of Mary & Larry Laforet, Bernie and the late Jack Orrange. Also survived by his nieces and nephews; Mary Lynn, Paul, Martha, P.J., Jen, Chris, Stephanie, Brian, Bill, Paul and Wendy. Predeceased by his parents William & Erva, his sister Eileen Gleason and his mother and father-in-law Edward and Margaret McGill. Bob's passion was his family and he cherished the time spent with his loving wife, children and grandchildren. He was a fiercely loyal friend and will be missed by his coffee buddies and forever friends, Marcel & Bill but will now enjoy his coffee with Brian & Reg. Bob was a dedicated math teacher (Mr. Calculus) who wanted to inspire students and instill in them his passion for math. He was a mentor to many and a respected, winning football coach. Bob began his teaching career at John F. Ross Collegiate in Guelph and continued his vocation in Sarnia at St. Clair Secondary School. In his retirement Bob kept the Point Edward Library in business with his love of reading. Ever the sports super fan, Bob was the armchair advisor, quarterback and statistician for his favorite teams. The family would like to express their gratitude and respect to Dr. Glen Maddison & Shari from St. Joseph's Hospice, Evelyn from CCAC, Deb, Teresa, Stephanie, Laney, Diane, Angie, Gloria and Maryanne from VON. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Bob's life will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, August 21st, at the Sarnia Golf & Curling Club. All who knew and loved Bob are welcome to join us in the sharing of memories at the celebration. Arrangements entrusted to the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 519-344-3131.
