Obituary of Leonide "Annette McAneney

MCANENEY, LEONIDE "ANNETTE" – At St. Joseph's Hospice, Sarnia on Tuesday, August 12th, 2014, Annette McAneney died at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late Joseph (1985). Loving mother of Rev. Gerald McAneney and his wife Norma, Lawrence "Tom" McAneney and his wife Evelyn, Maureen Morkin and her husband Bill, and Patricia Bell. She was the cherished grandmother of Bradley (Donna), Jeanine, Thomas (Angela), Martin (Michelle), Kevin (Holly), Tracy (Tom), Scott (Sue), Daryl (Alina), Kelly (Mark), Christine (William), and step-grandchildren David, Susan and Christine. Also survived by her brother-in-law Father Wilfred McAneney and many nieces and nephews. Her spirit also lives on in her 29 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Alphonse and Aurore Rivet, son-in-law Timothy and step-grandson Bruce. She was an avid cook, gardener and birdwatcher, a huge fan of professional golf and ice-skating, a lifelong member of the Catholic Women's League, and a member of the Sarnia Cursillo community. Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to her caring neighbours in Sarnia over the years and many exceptional friends who brought her great joy. Her family has been humbled by, and wishes to honour with heartfelt gratitude, the staff and volunteers of St. Joseph's Hospice for their the selfless love, patience, care, and compassion during Annette's final days. Visitation will be at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, August 14th, 2014 where prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 15th., celebrated by Fr. Vince Gulikers. In lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy can be made through donations to St. Joseph's Hospice, 475 Christina St. N., Sarnia, N7T 5W3.
